What are Compound Exercises?

      Compound exercises are the exercises that activate more than one muscle when performing that particular exercise.  In simple words, compound exercises/workouts activate two or more muscle groups at the same time.  Anybody can perform compound exercises to make progress.  Adding one compound exercise in a training session would definitely make that session more productive.  Compound workouts could be regarded as the primary workout movements in any type of exercise.  Compound exercises can either be performed using body weight or additional weight.  Even bodyweight compound exercises could make huge progress in building muscle as well as burning fat.

Why should you perform compound workouts?

     Anyone aspiring to be fit, grow muscle, burn fat/calories can perform compound workouts.  In fact, adding compound exercises to your routine makes your fitness journey more productive and efficient. Compound exercises have many numbers of benefits but the key thing is that it boosts your testosterone level which is the most important hormone in any fitness journey.  

     Research has proven that a particular muscle group must be trained at least twice a week to attain maximum muscle growth.  Performing compound exercises could actually meet this goal and can even offer you to train a particular muscle group more than two times.


Who can perform compound exercises?

     Any fitness aspirant whether he is a beginner/intermediate/advanced can perform compound exercises.  A beginner can perform compound exercises using his bodyweight or lite weight.  An intermediate could feel easier to perform compound exercises using bodyweight so, he can use a moderate amount of additional weight.

     Compound workouts are also meant for advanced lifters.  It is not that you have progressed a lot so you can neglect compound workouts because they are primary movements that could activate all the muscles.  So, advanced lifters can perform compound exercises with weights that they feel are challenging.

Do compound exercises show faster results?

Of course, it does.  Compound workouts are the major exercises in strength training, which means they can build most of the muscle when you follow a perfect diet.  So, everyone can add compound workouts to their routine and can make progress a bit faster.
